A friend and i have old school slot car track. I dont know if anyone knows the name brand of it, that would be a great help. Here is a description of the track.

The controllers are red guns
The curves on the track are painted yellow
2 Corvette car bodies

I know that isnt much to go on, but any help would be appreicated.

PS. I have gooled the nards off of it, and i cant find it.

Back in the 70's we had something similar called "AFX" racing. Then Tyco came out with their version. I remember going to Toys R Us with my birthday money and debating on whether or not to buy a new AFX car or save it up for an Atari game.

we had one of the early "slotless" sets. man those things sucked. take a corner at anything over granny speed and the cars fly off the tracks.

Do any of your old farts like me remember hotwheels racing sets where you had these strips of orange plastic track you would assemble, then you had this gizmo you would crank with your hand to shoot the cars down the track? I recall the pieces of orange track would make great weapons for whacking annoying sisters with. haha

yes I had that! I also had the mighty Thundershift 500 😉

I used to play with those Tyco racing sets. Awesome fun. The smell of burning controller 😉
My wife has some of those old sets that her father sent her recently. Tons of track & about 10 cars (if bought back then= $400.+) I cleaned all the track with alcohol & cleaned all the metal contacts with an abrasive eraser. Then I went to buy some new cars .................. That's where I hit a Brick wall! I must of went to 3 hobby shops and when I told them what I was looking for they said they could'nt get those.

Well I did some research and it seems that Hotwheels bought Tyco or something. (something to do with hotwheels now though) The sets are the same as in track and cars but they sure don't make the big sets like they used to. All small $20.00 crap sets now!

Anyone know if they sell "NEW" single cars anymore? Or are they just included in the cheapy set now?

yeah Mattel now owns Matchbox and Tyco RC to go along with Hot Wheels.

Up until recently I had a hole BUNCH of slot cars.

Some from kits, some antiques, and some I scratch built.

I had them stored at my Ex-Brother-in laws house and they either

A: Got stolen (His story)
or
B: He gave them away
or
C: He sold them (What I really think happened to them.

The day I found them GONE, I was sad, and REALLY PISSED OFF!

I had hours into them not to mention the $$$$. 🙁
