So far everything I read on over clocking a T-Bird refers to the Socket and not the Slot. Is there any difference in the methods? Also, what is the proper procedure in removing the plastic housing? I tried on my 800 and now it does not work any longer.

I have a slot A Tbird 900@1100. I used the procedure for Athlon classics to overclock. I set my GFD for 10x, the FSB at 110, and the voltage at 1.85v. No problemo.

I never over clocked a regular Athalon, but if I am correct you needed a add on to over clock the processor. With the slot T-Bird is this still necessary? Unless you remove the plastic cover you can not get to the add on slot, which brings me back to one of my original questions of how to remove that d__ cover;-) Thanks for the info on yours, I was curious what kind of speeds that I can expect from my processor. BTW I am using the Abit KA7-100 MB.

I use snapring pliers to get the covers off so you can install a golden finger device which is required. There are a couple of how-to's on the web. Do a search on the message board. Non of the stuff about golden bridges, pencil marks, and the like applies to a slot A Tbird. Best of all there are no momkeyshines involving L2 cache division ratio settings.

from what it seems all t-birds seem to have 850 mhz core's with the exception of the OEM 650 mhz and 700 mhz t-birds. My 750 has a 900 core and i can get 1076 mhz on it. Can't get the 1.1 ghz but i'm still glad that this chip overclocks better than 40%.

You can still use the soldering technique to get to a certain speed as well but GFD's make the process much easier.

Ok, so I am probably going to need a GFD, so any reccomendations? This is my first OC Athalon so I am kind of in the dark on this, I guess I will be doing some more reading on this one. Also, how can you tell which core you have for your processor. Thanks for all of the info.

well I can't vouch for all t-birds, but I helped one of my friends build his first system and it was a 700 Mhz t-bird and we managed to get it up to 1045 Mhz air cooled(9.5 * 110) so, i think most all t-birds should at least hit 900 Mhz
