slot A T-Bird and Celeron

Hi folks:

I have two unrelated questions, one with two parts:

1). I have a MSI 6167 mobo, can I use a slot-a T-bird with it? I know that the chipset (AMD 750) supports it. I have no plans to overclock -yet-

2). I am building a system for my brother and he wants a Celeron. Celerons run on 66Mhz bus. Can I use 100Mhz SDRAM in a Celeron mobo? OR, could I get a Celeron 500(for example) and run it in a (100 bus x 5 multiplier) mobo? If so, what mobo do you folks recommend

1.) not sure

2.) yes you can use PC100 ram with a celeron (currently using 128 megs of PC100 in my Celeron 633mhz Win2k machine). As far as running it at 5 X 100 for 500 mhz that wouldn't work. Celerons have their multiplier locked so they only way to overclock them is to change the FSB (66mhz, 75mhz, 83mhz, etc...)
If your brother wants to go the celeron route try to get a 533mhz or newer Celeron, most overclock very well.
My 633 runs at 950mhz, but Im waiting on a better heatsink and fan.

Celerons are all multiplier locked as with all cpu's.you cant run the 500 at 100x5. I think the 500 has a 7.5 multiplier. You could run the bus speed up to 100 and get 750 out of it. I would forget the celeron anyway. Get him a Duron you can change the multiplier on the chip with a pencil. The Duron smokes the celeron anyway. The celeron is now the k6 of cpu's
