I dont know about anyone else, but I have found that finding Slot A T-birds is pretty hard. Compgeeks.com has a special today onthe 950s for 138 and the 900s for 128. Their shipping is only like $8. Considering how hard the slot A t-birds are to find, i think that 138 is a pretty good price. Hope this helps out the SD-11 owners out there.

Damn good deal. Last time compugeeks got in the 900's, they were gone FAST. I'd jump on the 950 - because most Slot-A boards top out at 1 -1.1g, it will be your last slot A. And The 950 will hit 1.1 without a sweat.

I've shopped with CompGeeks and they are very good with their customer service... I once had them recredit me for an order submitted twice..

Ya, they are pretty good, I have bought many many things from them, what I like is that they do COD shipping, and only charge $5 extra. I checked out pricewatch and this t-bird is even cheaper than the socket A 950s and 950 classics. Ya the 900s the first time they had them sold out in a day and a half.

It says on the condition that it is used. Is this still a good deal? You can get a new one at upgradeplanet.com for about $10 more. Well, its up to the buyer right?

know what the difference between used and refurbished? Just a word. The average CPU is suppose to last 10 years, overclocking cuts the life of a processor in half, who keeps a computer for 5 years anyways?

Warning !!!!

These are THUNDERBIRD not "classic" Slot A cpu's, and will not work in most motherboards based on the VIA chipset. Better check & make sure your board supports Thunderbird CPU's.

Yes they work on AMD751 boards. I have a 700Tbird on one (that is my game/lan PC)

But I might have to upgrade it :)

I want to buy this cpu but needs some more information. First off, I am currently using Asus K7M so it should work with this cpu correct? Secondly, how do you overclock this thing, any modification involved? Finally, what is the best HSF for it?

These chips won't work on the Abit VIA-based board, and not even on all AMD chipset boards. I bought my 900 T-Bird slot in December to put on my Biostar M7MKA board...the computer would cut on & hang in the BIOS. I had to get a Microstar (MSI) 6195 board to get it to work. Runs real sweet though!! Super Bypass too!!

Based on the research that I did when I was in the market for a slot T-Bird, it will only work on the following boards:

Gigabyte 7IXE (ATX)
Microstar MSI-6191 (uATX)
Microstar MSI-6195 (ATX)

Being the stingy bastard that I am, I just snagged a Slot A 900Mhz T-Bird for $116.10 using the MC Exclusives code. The code won't work on the 950 since it's a "special". I have a feeling the 900 will run just fine at 950, or 1Ghz for that matter.

thump553, it wont work in your board,

one of the boards that jaggrey forgot to mention is the SD11, works very well in that board, you can use a GFD to overclock them just like the classic athlons.

This is a great deal! The only boards GUARANTEED to work with these Slot-A TBirds can be found here, looking at the column on the right.

Enjoy!

I believe the Aopen AK72 with the latest Bios R1.07 will work with the Slot A T-birds(according to Aopen's website). I just picked one up for $58 plus shipping.

Hey Folks:

Add the MSI K-7 Pro Slot-A to that list of Mobos that support the Slot-A Tbirds.

I have an 800 matched to one of these and it cranked up to 950+
right off

What these set-ups are REALLY fussy about is RAM: I had a friend who thought his board and/or CPU was/were DOA when he was first setting up his 800: turned out to be the RAM wouldn't mate to his Asus

Regards
