Hi,

I have a Abit KA-7 motherboard with an AMD Athlon 700 Slot A on it.
I'm thinking of buying an AMD 1.2 GHZ but that's Socket A.
Does this kind of convertor exists ?
Or should I buy a new motherboard ?

Any suggestions are welcome !

Greetz.

There is no such converter, you must buy a new motherboard that is Socket A format to use a 1.2 ghz Tbird.

I'd suggest buying a KT133A board(KT7A, A7V133) with the "B" core Thunderbird, you'll get 1.4 ghz out of it for sure.

Buy a new motherboard. There were a few SlotA to SocketA convertors made but they were never sold retail or OEM because they were overly expensive and unreliable at best.

Same opinion.

BTW, I have the same motherboard and it is my understanding that it will not run ANY Tbird, even a slot-type one.

If my impression is wrong, I'd love to be corrected.
