I would say that a gfd (golden finger device) is the best choice. I got a 700 mhz slot-a running at 850 completely stable. It's been running 24/7 for quite some time now, and I haven't seen a chrach since i got the gfd.
You could be able to find one cheap in the fs/ft forum, or at some online auctions.
A friend got his gfd not so long time ago, and he got it running at 1000 mhz completely stable (he had a 750 mhz prosessor, with a 900 mhz core)
but the thing is with the gigabyte board you got do you have any kind of l2 cache timings? If you got a 700 mhz prosessor it will not go alot further without crashing. the 700 mhz prosessor was the last with 1/2 l2 cache, the 750 to 850 (i think) has a 2/5 l2 cache, and from 900 and up there is a 1/3 l2 cache.
But there are som software that would change the l2 timings so it should be fine. Im running a asus k7v that has the l2 timings in the bios, and my friend got the abit ka7, that also got the l2 cache timings in the bios.
