My roommate has just had his HSF die. Well, technically, his fan has died for the second time, and he wants to try a different HSF. So far all I have on the mobo model is that it is either a Abit or Asus. I will be checking on that in a little bit. Anyways, its running a 800MHz Athlon (not a slot T-Bird, btw). What would you guys recommend as a $40-50 replacement? He wants a OC'ers HSF, even though he probably wont OC. I am trying to get him to go for quiet performance, b/c I spend a lot of time in the same room as his computer, and I dont want a whiney 7K RPM Delta that isnt doing anything for my performance (for the record, my machine is pretty darn quiet).

My slot A computer now lives at my girl friends house so I can't measure the fan size, but as I remember it is not very big. Plycon has some 50 mm fans that are 28 dBA. Screw a couple on the old heatsink for that macho look.

Your roomate could get a new unit with a quiet fan at Directron for $19.

Don't let him find out about the GlobalWin dual fans if you value your hearing and sanity. Luckily they are all sold out.
