Does anyone know of a HSF that allows this, I have a golden orb and two noname hsf's but none seem to allow this.....the reason in asking is that when I took of the heattrasfer plate thingy I bent the clips maybe a little too much. I posted at another sites forum and someone suggested the P3125 HSF but he could not give me specifics in whether it would actually do it or not. I have seen two articles on how to mod a VOS32 or an Alpha P7125 but these are a little complicated for one of my skills :)

Any help would be great

Mage79,

Could you provide links to those articles about the modified VOS32. I was thinking of ditching the plate and just going directly onto the core. Anyone know if this is a good idea or not?

Thanks,

OMG! Forget about it! I think I'll stick with the heat plate, that just seems like it takes too much time and effort...:)

I don't think there are any HS/F out there that support what you wanna do. I have only heard of doing mods like the links you have posted.
I was gonna remove the heatplate as well, but then couldn't find any HS/F like yourself and decided that modding my Alpha P7125 was way more complicated to do than the benefit of getting maybe a couple of degrees cooler. Good luck!!

I also believe that the only way to do that is modify an existing heatsink as suggested by the posted link.

Well, I have seen people use the arctic silver epoxy to epoxy heatsinks direct to the core. While not the ideal solution, it's probably better than nothing.

Yeah it does all look too complicated, maybe I will just have to try and get my heatplate back on....couple of questions though

1) Do I need to put some thermal grease on there and try and get off the other stuff?

2) If I do, where do I put it and how much?

3) And last if the original clips are too badly bent are there any other ideas of reattaching the heatplate???
