Readers,

I own a ASUS P2B board, I had this idea of installing a Celeron 800 on it with a Slot 1 > Socket 370 Converter .. and of course overclock it a bit to just above 1Ghz.. but when I wanted to go and buy the converter (that the didn't had anymore..) the told me that the 800 version doesn't work with a converter.. is this tru? Since the didn't had the converter anyway I went to another store (didn't had it either..) who told me that it does work but sometimes it doesn't.. well I know that a ABIT converter doesn't work well on a ASUS board.. ; Now I found a Converter that the guy hopefully is sending to me right now.. it's ASUS so that's ok and he said that everything could be adjusted.. like voltage etc'.

I hope someone can tell me a bit more if this will work etc' ..

the asus slocket should work fine.
if your m/board can't natively supply the low default voltage required by the cpu, usually revision 1.10 m/boards & below, then you'll have to set the voltage to 1.8V on the slocket for things to work.
it's a slight overvoltage but it's been found to work without problems by many people.
btw I note that this is your first posting so welcome to the forum! :)

Thank you for welcoming me, i'm happy to be here ^_^

I looked up on the revision of my board and it's 1.04 .. so 1.8v will have to do.
I looked a bit more up about the Celeron I wanted to install on my system.. the 800 .. and well 800 was the fastest I could get around here but i'm reading about 850 and 900 versions ?! I thought the Netherlands weren't behind that much.

133 * 8 would be the max I could take on my ASUS P2B v1.04 (I couldn't find anything yet but I remember something with 143Mhz bus? or am I totally making a mistake there? been long since I looked all that up to OC my 300A) I know never versions can even do 150Mhz etc'.. but well I don't got a newer version so to bad.

Having 1.8v wouldn't be a problem since I probably need it to run the CPU stable at 1064Mhz right?
I read about some steppings of the CPU's.. (it's been way to long since I overclocked any pc.. a year atleast).. but maybe you or someone else can show me a picture of a CPU to show me where to look exactly on the stepping etc' for a good Celeron CPU?

Thanks!

Sup Thijssss welcome to the forums!!

I think the celerons > 800 weren't released till a few weeks ago, so no the netherlands aren't that much far behind. :)
