even if your current cpu is a p3, removing the heatsink may break part of the plastic infrastructure which holds the heatsink firmly in place. assuming you can remove everything without damage, you will need to completely remove all traces of thermal material from heatsink & apply a fresh layer.
IMO, best to just get an aftermarket heatsink!
