i knoe this is old skoo but its for my brothers comp. Ok, so when we boot up, it says system hardware adnormal and then boots up into the bios.. i am stuck here and cant get any further. So, i took apart the heatsink from the chip to see a thermal pad. Now, im jus wondering if AS would fix this problem. Anyone ever had this happen? Im a noob to Slot 1 cpus. Thanks
 
as wouldnt hurt.

could be a bios bug....
unplug comp remove battery
clear cmos
wait 15 mins
put it all back bootup and if you can reflash the bios.

Could be the mobo battery is dead, too. If you look at the date in the BIOS and it's wrong on every bootup even if you set it correctly, like Jan. 1 1980 or something, that's probably what's happening.
 
actually, the battery doesnt seem dead because the mobo reads the right date and time. well..also, its a p2/celeron mobo with a evergreen (yes..generic) 550 mhz cpu. could be tat..but im not sure
