I formatted my laptop over the weekend (Inspiron 8600), and it hangs for like 40-50secs between the welcome screen, and actual windows. It was never like this before. The only things I have enabled are AIM, and ccApp.

Those problems are usually resolved with the help of bootlog.txt.. a file in your root directory. This log will disclose to you everything that is loading.. and everything that is failing to load. There is a common executable file used in conjunction with that bootlog.txt which makes the examination of that somewhat tedious file easier - and gives the times required for loading... Unfortunately, I can't recall that filename. Some boot failures are normal and common to the operating system... and are not relevant to your particular problem.
