Slocket on a P2B

I got a 633 Celeron and 6905 MSI slocket adapter to put into my Asus P2B. When I push the button the fans and lights come on but nothing happens on the monitor. Set the default settings on the slocket and board. My 450 P3 works ok. bios is 1011 any ideas?

Your P2B may be too old to host a CII. I suggest checking Asus's site. Clicking on "coppermine" should get you to the info. If I remember right, a Rev 1.12 P2B with the latest Bios is needed.

Depending on what revision of the board you have, as Klosters above says, your board may not be able to give the voltage that the Celeron asks. In most cases of PCB board revisions prior to 1.12, the P2B can only give 1.80 volts as the minimum. Since the Celeron II asks for 1.5 volts, it will not boot up. Set the voltage on your slotket manually to 1.80 volts. This is a little high, but it should be fine for Coppermines. You should be able to boot up and get a good overclock once you have done this.
