I'll be looking for cooling that would enable a 2.4c to OC to around 3.0 - 3.2Ghz. Seems as though the tornado is the best for performance but i want something quieter than that baby. What are peoples recommendation for a fan and what size should i go for, 80mm 0r 92mm?

thanks.

I would pick up a 92mm Panaflo L1A, good airflow and not that loud. Only 27dB and 42.7 CFM. The M1A should also work at 30dB and 48CFM. However, if you are considering the Tornado, you might be better off with something a lot louder with more CFM.

This Zalman 92mm case fan looks pretty decent, 38CFM @20dB w/ resistor on or 53CFM @ 36dB w/o resistor.

Seriously do not even consider the Tornado unless you've heard it in person. It is unacceptably loud. Another vote for 92mm L1A.

Will the SLK900U fit on the A7N8X Deluxe without modification / bending capacitors?

Nope. You will have to bend caps. Some people have said quite a bit, others have said it isnt that bad. The 800 fits without a problem though.

From what I understand, the A7N8X doesn't require too much bending, the Deluxe requires a lot, or you can file down the heatsink which someone on this forum did. The 800 fits perfectly because it is oriented the other way (east-west instead of north-south or the other way around, I can't remember). Probably only see a very minor temp diff between the two, and I think you can force 92mm fans to fit on the 800 but don't quote me on it.

All I can say is get the biggest fan that still fits on the Heatsink. the bigger they are, the more airflow they give with less noise.

35dB is a bit loud in my opinion. On a Rheobus it might not be too bad though. I think the L1A(27dB) or M1A(30dB) on a rheobus are better choices though.

The SLK800 will fit a 92mm fan by bending the fan clips. Many people here have done it.
