SLK3700AMB or PLUS1080AMG and other fan questions

which has better cooling/quietness? (i need it tobe damn silent) whatever fans i need to add i will, undervolt them or anything i need to do. i just need to know which would be better. i will overclock a bit (2100+ SLK-900 and 8RDA). but nothing to drastically raise temps. im thinking of this fan for the slk-900, with the resistor connected so its at 20 dba. suggestions needed! P.S i posted about watercooling, turned out to be waay outta my budget. hehe
oh yeah, im also willing to cut some holes in the 1080 (maybe put a 92mm fan on the back or something)

I've been using Antec SX 1030/1040 cases for a long time and have thuoght they were at the top of the heap for good airflow/cooling but after I got my first SLK3700 I realized I had found the new King of the Hill. These 3700 have awesome cooling and are quieter than the SX10x0 series. You just can't beat one or two undervolted 120mm fans as compared to two-four undervolted 80mm fans for quietness. The SLK3700 also has grommets for mounting the HDDs, this helps quiet them down a lot. I would definitely choose the SLK3700 over the Plus1080 due to it's better airflow.

If you need a quiet computer I highly recommend that you visit SilentPCReview.com. THese guys are really hardcore about silent computing. The main site has all kinds of reviews and comparisons of Quiet PC hardware as well as a "Recommended Components" section. The Forums are really good too. The guys that hang out in there are real Silent Computer Geeks, you can get wonderful advice on making your system quieter. They're really up on all the best techniques and the latest hardware for making your computer quiet. Check it out.

great thanx, what was the oem version of that called again? D8000 or something? (i know its not the definate oem version, but a clone) and if i can get it in canada.

I agree. The SLK3700AMB is a great case. I don't understand why manufacturers don't make more dual 120mm fan cases. I got locally for $64 2 weeks ago, including a 350W true-power supply... Can't beat it.

Yes, it's the D8000 and it doesn't appear to be a clone. The pics I seen show it to be the same identical case as the SLK3700 with a different fron bezel and no Antec PSU. It's available atCoolcases.com for around $50, unmodded. You can get it in beige or black. If there's no details on the site yet, email Jim and he'll send you details and pics, that's what I did. You can have Jim pre-mod the case by cutting out the fan grills for you . I think he charges $10 for this. I'd recommend it because the stock fan grills are pretty restrictive. I did this to my SLK3700 as soon as I got it out of the box.

The D8000 model doesn't seem to be completed yet, I'd probably get one if I can see more pics and specs but I don't to email the guy. Seems exactly what I'm in the market for, too.
