Includes clips for 60/70mm Fans.

it says (from newegg) that 60/70 mm fan clips are included. i wanted to mount an 80mm fan. people have told me that this accepts 80mm fans, but i dont see that it does anywhere in the stats for it. where are the 80mm clips?

also, people have said that this does fit an a7n8x, but i am very skeptacle of that cuz on mine there is like a cent. of space and i have a cheapo taisol, not this huge thing.

so basically i have 2 questions 😛

1)why doesnt it say in the ad that it takes 80mm fans if it does, and where are the 80mm clips?

2)does this thing really fit in the a7n8x?

thanks a bunch

sorry for the early bump, but im ordering my buddy his comp in about a half hour and i need an answer fast. 🙂 sorry

I have it, and it fits 80mm fans. There are several sets of holes on the sides of the HS to jam the clips, one of them is for 80x25, the other for 80x32. There are two sets of clips that come with the fan from Thermalright, one large set for 80mm and another small set for 60mm. Works like a charm.

ok that answers #1 🙂 it DOES take 80mm fans even thought it doesnt say 80mm fan clips.

but, will this monster really fit an a7n9x? 😕

I think the (a) and the (u) are basically the same except for the socket-clip mechanism. Don't quote me on this, but I think if 800u will fit, 800a will as well.

the difference between the "a" and the "u" is the mounting. "a" has a triple clip, "u" is bolted.

im just worried about ordering this for my buddy and when we go to build his computer, either it wont fit, or it wont take the LED 80 mm fan im orderering 😛 (im paranoid 😉)

A has a socket A clip while U has a bolt generally for P4 boards.

It does fit 80mm fans and it is made for them. They just don't have the full description.

And the slk800 fits very well on a asus a7n8x, have one on mine as a matter of fact. 🙂

And btw, you can even fit most 92mm fans on the slk800. see here, scroll to the bottom. See the previous page for tips on installing it. Mainly be sure the heatsink is pushed more towards the rear, so it isn't on that raised plastic part on the front.

You can mount 92mm fans on it easily. I would get a Zalman 35DBA 55CFM 92mm from svc.com for $8.
