SLK 230 vs Porsche Boxster

ok, im looking at a couple of cars, and was wondering if anyone had any experience with these, or suggestions. Im looking at a Porsche Boxster, or a Mercedes SLK 230.

Any thoughts on which way I should go?

Boxter, although a porsche, is not a porsche. 911 Turbo is a Porsche.

pffft...911 Turbo is a sweet car but for what, 130k? Sheeet. The only Porsche that wasn't worth a damn was that lame-ass 924. Well, that and their ridiculous version of an SUV.

Why are you comparing two very different cars?...Yes they are both 2 door roadsters, but are designed for different market segments.

As a youg male driver, go with the Boxster. Its a far superior car from the driving standpoint.

Several years ago I remember watching a German automotive review show. Not being able to understand German I could not tell what they were saying but in the video they showed of the Z3, Boxster and the SLK, it was painfully obvious the SLK was not a driver's car and had poor road skills compared to the other two. They did show a ranking at the end that went 1) Boxster; 2) Z3; 3) SLK.

If I were you I'd go for the 330ci convertible instead, the 330ci is a pretty "high end" car (better than the 325i's people buy just for the tag) and IMO is better than the boxster or SLK. The SLK is definately underpowered and the Boxster just screams "wannabe" because it's the cheapest porsche.

i have driven a number of boxster, but not an slk yet. i was disappointed with the boxsters power, but still loved the car. i am going to drive a boxster S on tuesday, and am hoping it has better power

The 914 was a decent little car. Quite a few 914 clubs still exist. A guy I used to work with had one but it was totalled in a wreck when some idiot redneck in a Trans Am blew thru an intersection on red with no brakes.

The 924/944 are certainly not crap. Someone in a friend's family has a 924 turbo and that sucker can move and handle. They are known for their handling.

I'm going for the 330cic for a more forgiving ride on those long drives and (small) back seats for when me & my buddy pick up random hotties 😀 If you gotta have a roadster, the s2000 at about $10k less is no slouch. If your looking for status, go Boxster. Boxster-S if you can afford it.

i think its gonna be the boxster S. i really dont like the s2000. i have a BMW now, and am really happy with german engineering
