Slipstreaming Win2k and SP2

I remember a thread here a long time ago on how to put SP1 onto a CD with Win2k to create a slipstreamed Win2k bootable CD. Does anyone have the links/steps again for that? I did a quick search and it didn't find it (many, many months old), so why not start it again now that Win2k is officially "out" on Microsoft's site now.

There were instructions here and a link to someone's site, but I since I can't find the original thread, I'm a bit out of luck.

Thanks,

To integrate Windows 2000 Service Pack 1 (SP1):
1. Create a distribution folder on the computer on which the initial installation folder will be stored. Give the new folder any name (for example, C:\W2kinstall).
2. Copy the contents of the I386 folder from the original Windows 2000 CD-ROM into the new folder. Make sure to copy all the subfolders in the I386 folder.
3. In the Service Pack 1 folder, locate Update.exe, and then run the following command
update.exe -s:c:\w2kinstall
where W2kinstall is the folder to which you copied the I386 folder. Windows 2000 must be running on the computer in order to run the Update program. You can install Windows 2000 with SP1 integrated from this folder.
NOTE: Unlike other Service Pack upgrades, you cannot uninstall a Service Pack installed in this manner.

For additional information about integrating Service Packs into installations, see the Spdeploy.doc file in the Support\Tools folder on the SP1 CD-ROM, or visit the following Microsoft Web site:

And for making a bootable CD, here is a good page.

edit- and these same instructions work with SP2 (I just did it successfully) 🙂

Thanks for the tips! This is exactly what I was looking for. I'd figure I'd ask now because a lot of people would probably want this pretty soon now that SP2 was released. Too bad we can't "sticky" the thread.
