Slip on cover for laptop

I am looking for one of these slip on covers for my laptop that kind of go on like a glove or so.
Friends of mine from Europe have them for the little Mac notebooks and I would like to have one for my Dell x300 (so it needs to be for a small laptop [12" and only 0.8" high]).

Does anyone have one of these or recommend where I can get one?

The Shinza sleeve I'm planning on getting for my Thinkpad X31 with similar dimensions to yours. But take a look at the other 2 sites they have some nice sleeves as well.

Shinza
Waterfield
Tom Bihn Bags

You might want to check out the Gap I picked up a sleeve from the one in the Beverly Center for $11.99. The fit is not that great but it works for the mean time while the Shinza is out of stock.

Fellowes Body Glove Notebook Sleeve. I bought one from Amazon.com. It's made of Neoprene and "hugs" the laptop.

I have one from www.radtech.us which is a mac website. I'm guessing that with those dimensions something that fits a 12" powerbook would probably fit yours. However the PBs are like 1.2" thick I think... so that might make it fit loosly... earlier 12" models have been thinner (1") so they might work... not too sure really. There are so many made custom for the Powerbook... I'm spoiled...

The Shinza sleeve looks EXACTLY like what I want.
The others are more like carry-cases ...

Is the one from the Beverly Center similar to the Shinza sleeve or to the other bag-like things?

Note that the Shinza ZeroShock sleeve is different from the ZeroShock that's sold locally in Japan. I'm not sure where Shinza is getting its stock from, but it's made of a much softer and stretchy material than the native ones from Japan, which are harder and firmer.

Update: Shinza svcks. big time!
After ordering the sleeve on 09/15/04 they informed me that the sleeve would not ship until 09/21/04.
They then informed me it would not ship till 09/23/04.
I called on 09/23/04 and they told me that the sleeve would ship out that day.
Again it did NOT ship and I called the next day (09/24/04). They assured me the sleeve would ship the same day, I would have it on Monday and that they would call if anything went amiss.
Again: NOT SHIPPED.
I will call on Monday and cancel.

Anyone know of any of the brands mention have a reseller in Vancouver, BC, Canada?
I dont think NCIX sells those pouches.

heya coolVariable,

i was just wondering which size you ended up choosing for your x300? it seems like either the "12" or the "subnotebook" size might fit. how are you finding the ZeroShock? still good? i am thinking of ordering a black one for my x300.

thanks!

Can anyone recommend a horizontal, zipper-less sleeve that will fit a Toshiba R100 both with and without the external battery? It should not have rounded corners.

I'm a student and keep my lappy inside my messenger bag. I'd like to have quick access to the lappy (no zipper) and would like the case to protect the lappy's corner better.

I got the 12" one.
Nice fit with the regular battery and with the extended it barely fits ...
The sleeve is great. Only shinza was a pretty bad shopping experience ... be prepared to wait weeks for your sleeve!!

heya cool, thanks for the reply. so if it fits with the extended batt, does that mean its a little loose with the normal battery? from reading the posts, i get the sense the case is pretty stretchy and that snug is better. im just wondering if i'd be better off with the "subnotebook" sleeve. from the measurements it seems like the 12 inch one is too big, and the subnotebook is too small. ah well.

i have read yer shinza story - sounds brutal! i have read a few other places about both good and bad expeariances with them. i guess its hit and miss. they seem to be the only place i can find them for sale, so its shinza or the highway.

does anyone know where I can get one like this that fits one of those widescreen notebooks?
Thought this might make a good Xmass present ...

I saw them at Outpost.com (see my link above).
Are they any good?

Are they just made from neoprene (e.g. as a scratch protection) or from something more durable (e.g. the NASA memory foam stuff) so they also protect against small drops, bumps, etc?

ah my bad, didnt see the link.

yea its neoprene. as far as padding, since i don't use an outer laptop bag in addition to the sleeve (i just put it in my backpack, which doesn't really have padding) i'm kinda worried about bumping it. the neoprene seems thin, so i might just make a homemade bumper to put in the bottom on my backpack. in the meantime, i'm just careful about handling it and the sleeve itself has worked great so far. i like the extra layer inside that keeps the zipper from scratching the laptop (altho that's probably standard for most sleeves).

It seems Shinza has a 15" large sleeve that fits the Compaq x1050us ... that must be new.
I guess I will be getting that one.
My other sleeve is GREAT, although I really dread having this arrive AFTER Christmas.
