Didn't even know there was a competitor to Sling. Looks like about the same features, box colors, prices.

I have slingbox and it is excellent. Might want to pick up now though as I think someone just bought them out which means to expect monthly fees with newer models ;)

I have the Slingbox AV.

i bought my slingbox on a whim about 2 years ago, maybe a bit longer... the slingbox classic as they now call it.

Over the years it has proved to be worth its weight in gold... easy to use, setup, and just plain works great. I love that I can watch my DVR'ed programs from halfway around the world. Or heck, for awhile I had a webcam plugged into the secondary input and could watch what my dog was doing in the middle of the day. Mainly though i just use it to sling tv to my mac mini upstairs.

I've been thinking as of late to upgrade to the Slingbox Solo for HD support, but i'm still undecided... the classic works great for me.

Halloween shmalloween. My night will be dedicated to pre-ordering a Media Tank :D I'm not into Slingbox and I've never heard of Hava before, but every single Slingbox owner I know loves theirs, kinda like us Tivo owners ;) Here's a few google results on a comparison though:

It looks like Hava has the advantage by having built-in 802.11g wireless plus being able to stream to more than one PC. Also reviewers generally say that the picture quality is better on the Hava.

Have you ever considered starting your own multimedia/streaming/HTPC info site? It would kick ass!

My gf's room mate has a Slingbox. While its cool, only 1 person at a time can use it. The quality on it is decent at best. Ive never used a Hava before, but just by the specs, reviews, and prices..id go for one of those over a Slingbox.

From the limited time i Had my slingbox, I noticed that it played the feed at a slower rate than what was being broadcast live, even when viewing from a PC on the same network.

For example, if SportsCenter was on from 1:00-2:00, it wouldnt end on the SB untl about 2:10 because of the slower playback. Other than than, it was pretty useful for what its purpose is.

I had a slingbox and I had to return within the next day because I'm deaf and closed captions/subtitles were not supported. I was so furious. :|

wow, you saw a 10 minute delay? my slingbox is about 10-15 seconds behind live. I love my slingbox! used it sucesfully from around the world, its great..in fact, yesterday I got a windows mobile phone, the 8525, and now I can watch TV on my phone, sweet!

Its not the delay.. When I first start it up, its about 10-15 seconds behind.. But since it is playing back at a slightly slower speed, the time adds up and by the end of an hour, its close to 10 minutes behind...

Think of it as watching something in slow motion, but you cant notice it because its like going at 98% speed

It's amazing how funny that was this early in the morning

RossMAN nope never thought about it, just added articles here and there to my website. I actually dumped the old website and just started up a blog last month since it was easier to maintain (i.e. jump into Wordpress and type a bit, then post). Not much, just a log of my current projects:

http://www.orionmods.com/blog/

But that's about it. Got a good domain name idea? :D

Thats really strange, it should only be stretching out the feed at first as it buffers and builds up.

When i first connect to the slingbox the stream is slowed down (even voices sound ever so slower than realtime) for about 15-20 seconds while it buffers, then speeds up to realtime speed (albiet at a 15 or so second delay from live).

The end result is that my shows finish only 15-20 seconds after broadcasting live. It sounds to me like your slingbox isn't buffering properly. Might want to call sling.
