Just assembled a micro-atx case and the mb doesn't exactly give much space between the cpu and ram. As a result the cm 212 hyper evo is touching/covering 1 ram stick.

What are some alternatives to the cm212 that is slightly slimmer and roughly the same price/efficiency?

What is your RAM? Clearance should not be an issue with regular size RAM modules. Also the part that should hang over the RAM is the fan, not the heatsink itself; so if you need to get access to the RAM, you can remove the fan.

212+ evo is about as small as 120mm tower coolers get.. if you want an improvement in clearance I'd suggest either replacing tall RAM modules with standard height ones, or upgrading to a contained water cooler.

You can position the fan up higher on the heat exchanger... just slide it up, or dismount the fan and clip it on higher. You are correct, it's pretty tight, but unless you have very tall heat spreaders you shouldn't have a problem.

i have those silly tall ones. yeah i'd return it now, but it's past the date so

i suppose i could take suggestions for a 92mm as well. i don't overclock so perhaps a 120 is unnecessary.

i currently do that, but taking out a ram stick would still be somewhat of a pain. anyway maybe i'm just being anal over this.

Upgrade to a Thermalright True Spirit. And funny thing is, they are better than the EVO. Both better performance and much better mounting bracket. Best selections and prices are found at Nan's. And just tell Tom I sent you and he'll ship for free.
