Slightly OT- Recommendation for best DVD player under $200

Looking for family gift for Christmas. I know I can find them cheap, but I want a reliable player also. Input is appreciated.

Do you mean a home dvd player or a computer dvd player?

I hear the pioneer 16x computer dvd players are awesome and they're about $110 canadian.

That's what the slightly OT was- Home Theatre system for full size TV.

I bought the low-end Toshiba about 2 1/2 years ago and I love it.

A few friends have toshibas as well and they've no complaints.

I believe Toshiba has a model for about 160 bucks that should do quite well for you

Yeah I bought the Toshiba SD1600 last xmas too for $110 (ms %20 off + 800.com discount) and it's great. They've since updated it to the SD1700 which has component in's (I think).

Great little machine, it won't win any major feature awards and the remote is major suck, but it plays dvd's very well and is a very solid performer. Should be able to be had for much less than $200.
