Slightly OT: PS3 to use DC model?

I like this line in the article:

"Pete Isensee ... used his GDC talk to deliver a mostly positive critique of the Xbox's journey to the market, lauding a product launch that happened on time and without major bugs, a departure from Microsoft history."

Microsoft? On time? Few major glitches? What???

A departure from Microsoft history? That is an understatement! 😀

Unfortunately, Sony's marketing guys are in control of what we hear, and not their engineers. Distributed real-time graphics rendering is more or less impossible to do due to the minimal latency and extreme bandwidth needed. Really, DC can only be used with render farms, such as what's used to make movies and other things that don't need to be real time. Besides, when you consider that the only other PS3's running are those that will be playing, where are they going to get extra DC power since all the PS3's will be in use?😉
