Slightly OT: Is there any way to make sure Dual DDR is enabled on NF2 mobos?

Hello all,

I just installed 2 Corsair DDR3200 low latency modules. I was wondering if there is any way to make sure that the dual channel function of the NF2 is actually working. I didn't see any BIOS option for it, so I assume it is enabled by default. Thanks for any info!

I would also like to know this - is there anything like CPU-Z or another program that gives you this kind of info?
Gonna get my twin hyperx modules tomorrow ;)

You will probably have the memory slots like this || |

Make sure that you have memory in the one on it's own, and one of the two that are together

Edit: The bolding TOTALLY didn't work! So removed the picture, and just went for plain old explanation!

The modules are arranged like that. Does that mean it will automatically work?

Should do :) I vaguely remember my 8RDA+ saying something about dc ddr somewhere, but i've only got 1x 512mb Samsung now, so can't even reboot to tell you where it said it!

When I 1st had mine setup I didnt realise it was in SC, now its in dual mode:) ,btw you can check the difference in SSSandra ,you'll get a modest boost in mem benchmark & a very slight cut in SETI WU times (5mins for me).

Inccidently ,something I wanted to try as a result of reading that the Ath FSB of say 166MHz DDR can't make use of the RAMs (2x)166MHz DDR Dual channel ,is to ramp the FSB as high as possible with the RAM on 83% ,so at 200MHz FSB, RAM is at (2x)166MHz thus closing the gap between FSB & RAM bandwidth.I didn't know though if the higher latency would kill off any gain.(My RAM won't go above 178MHz at CAS 2.5-2-2-6 btw).

Now I was going to try that on my mbrd but anytime I select 83% for the RAM it won't boot ,not even if the FSB is at 100MHz! :confused:
I haven't yet tried a different % ,maybe that'll work?

Can someone else test my theory?

Everywhere I've been and everything I've read says the Nforce2 is best in synch mode and that the latency penalty impacts performance significantly. I guess there could be exceptions to the rule but I'm not tryin it :p

Ok, so how do you change it into DC mode if it was 1st in SC?

Just put the modules into the correct slots Swanny, the core logic on the motherboard will detect the memory in dual DDR config and do the rest for you. There should be nothing else for you do do.
