Well I get a new mobo and as I'm trying to press down the 24pin power plug using my trusty needle nose pliers it of course slips off and damages the top of one of the caps in that area. I'm not sure if that will effect performance (i haven't used it yet - before or after) and I wanted to see about finding out how much of a chance that i really messed things up here.

I'm still finish setting it all up so I don't know if there are any issues yet.

Any info would be great. Its a Abit AN8 Ultra mobo with the silent otes and the cap is just to the left of it (towards the top of the board as if its in a case)

If all you did was dent the top of an electrolytic capacitor you are probably ok. Fire it up and see what happens, you have nothing to loose.

well...so far so good. mobo not really wanting to post at the desired 300 fsb just yet but hell thats a lot to ask in most cases. testing it out right now and it all seems just fine at 270 fsb - will try to push further later after 225mhz mem testing - lesson learned and I won't use hard objects during mobo installs
