Here's one for you. I ordered an item that cost about $220. After a week I decided I no longer needed it. The business authorized an RMA, and I sent it back. Shipping through the USPS was about $25 including insurance. USPS tracking states it was delivered at the address. The business claims they cannot find the item, they say that multiple business use the same dock. I have not heard from the business, so I assume they are not refunding me. USPS is no help, I assume I'll have to go through my credit card company for resolution.

Has anyone had anything similar happen, and how was it resolved for you?

Sounds like the sellers problem ... shame they have a bad return-shipping system in place and need to fix it but that's not on you!

Charge back.

No quandary, you have insurance which also means tracking to prove you returned it. That is on them or USPS. They don't want to the business to eat it but they should before you do. There is no reason they will not refund you since you have proof of delivery.

How about a name-and-shame if they're not willing to work with the other businesses who use the same dock to try and track down the package? You did what you were supposed to do, a reputable company should refund you.

I'm sorta dealing with something similar. Bought a charge controller and inverter from Renogy, I was given 2 tracking numbers but they were the same, one box came in, I did not think much of it and the other did not come in. I checked tracking for the other a few days later and that's when I realized it was the same number.

According to them they were both shipped together in same box but I wonder if it was actually two separate boxes sent at same time, and maybe one got stolen off my door step or something.

Been sending emails back and but technically it's not really their fault if they can prove it got to my house and it just got stolen, so really not sure what happens from here. Hopefully they at very least give me a credit on their site.

In your case I feel it's definitely the company's fault for having a bad return process. They should monitor the dock better especially if it's shared.

They replied back and asked who signed for it. I suspect they don't want to refund my money and are trying to put it on USPS. Sigh.
