I'm a freshman in college. He's a sophomore. The "argument" centers around locking the door to our room.
In general, I'm pretty cautious about my stuff, because I don't have much money to replace it after paying my portion of tuition, getting room furnishings, and getting school books and such.
I always lock the door when I'm out of the room. I do this for the obvious reason. I don't want my stuff to get stolen. So, the source of this argument comes from him not wanting to take his keys when he leaves, especially to go to the shower. So far, he's been locked out of the room four times because he left, I left and locked the door and he came back. Every time this happens, the next time I see him I know I'm in for an insane rant. This rant is not insane because of anger involved, but the arguments he uses are pretty fvcking stupid:
"It's a lose/lose situation for me"
"I"m a sophomore" (wtf?)
"My friends don't drag their key around"
"If they took anything, they'd take my laptop"
"It just doesn't make sense"
"You should know I'm going out for a shower"
"What's your obsession with locking the room?"
We just hashed it out a few minutes ago, with him conceding that he'll think about maybe bringing the keys to the shower (exact words). I don't know why this is so hard for this kid.
Done.
