Migroo,

Sorry to hear about the problems :( , but

If you're looking into the direction of another DC project and want to be (99%) absolutely safe about it, I would recommend the RC5 project.
It has a client that behaves very, very nicely and does not take more than idle cycle, if you configure it correctly.
RC5 also has a very reliable and stable perproxy, that is easy to configure.
I have this combination running for about two years now on our company network and have never had any problems with it.

I'm sure we (on the board) can help you, if you decide to go that way. :)

Thanks for the replies guys. I shall continue to run SETI on a limited basis on machines that have proven to be stable.

Ray: I agree about the protection, however consider this - The machine is perfectly stable unless running SETI - its not a viable solution to add all this extra equipment just to be able to continue running SETI.

ishmael2k: Thanks :)

IJump: I will be continuing at home, as my machines here have (touch wood) been 100% stable whilst running the program - however its torture to see 1/3 of the production that you used to get :(

zeruty: Thanks, I will remember that :)

medic: I understand where you are coming from, and I agree I have no solid proof, however its all an OPINION. I have taken on board your point though. Please understand why I hold my opinion.

conjur: thanks :), yes I have considered a power failure, and I think it was highly likely. The machine (server) looked as if it had crashed, tried to reboot, and obviously failed during reboot. I shall be spending time looking at our budget and options for getting some sort of UPS. I wont be running SETI on that server anymore - not worth it for 1.8 WUs a day... :)

matt621: What can I say? We all hold different opinions.

Yield: Yes I agree. On most machines SETI runs fine.

paf007: Thanks for the input, but I can assure you we do not use cheap parts...

lane42: Excellent Idea!! :D

PeterN: Thanks, I shall look into RC5 if I stop SETI completely.

Thanks everyone for your inputs on this, they are all much appreciated. I shall not stop running SETI, although I shall have a much lower output.

Poof - LOL, I know but its just easier to do it all in one post :p

medic - Thanks buddy. I will stay on of course. I am putting this series of errors down to experience :) Lets just say that SETI is staying away from the server for now.

I am typing this from my office machine - as you can tell I have brought it back up. I wont put SETI back on immediately, which is a shame as I will lose a weekend on an Athlon XP.. :( Nevermind though.

Hard Line - Output should diminish by 2 per day once I have stablised. :)

Thanks for putting up with my moans guys, the feedback is nice, useful and confidence building.
