Slight problem with Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer

I am running Windows 2000 Professional SP1 right now. My problem is, almost 100% of the time I load up IE or WE, the program won't display itself on the taskbar. It is running perfectly, but you can't tell it to pop up by clicking on it on the taskbar. If you click somewhere else and then click back on the window it will display on the taskbar, or if you have something else in front of the window (that's not in the taskbar), and Alt+Tab to it, it will pop up both on the screen and the taskbar.

Please help, it's driving me mad!

Wow, that's really freaky! Sounds like the obverse of the old blank button on the taskbar issue, but I don't recall even hearing of that rearing its ugly head under W2K. Wonder if it's caused by the same type of failure? This is just a guess, but I'd look first at the display drivers. For a couple of years there you'd see people complaining about the blank buttons on the taskbar every time there was an IE or DirectX upgrade. The upgrades would break something in the display drivers. The next display driver update would often fix the problem. I suppose it's possible that this is similar.

I will follow this thread with interest.

Regards,
Jim
