slight crackling on z560s

I just got my speakers and was messing around with them. I didn't do anything extreme, and everything worked fine, but I was listening to a few songs and noticed that at certain points, or maybe frequencies, the sats gave out a crackling sound, almost like listening to the radio. otherwise they're nice and clear, the bass is nice. It only seems to be on certain songs. Quake3 does it too when I use the machine gun. it isn't a huge deal, I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and what did you do about it? I don't think it is song quality because some low quality songs don't do it while some very high quality songs do it.

I'm confused, did I get a bum set? or is it something like cable quality?

Edit: it sounds like /music playing. someone singing. high note. fzzz. song continues.

Sounds like it could be a cable problem. Have you tried using a different cable from the pc to the speakers? Also, there might be an issue with the sound card itself...which model are you using?

List the system specs, specifically the mobo and soundcard please.

for songs, it could just be a slight recording problem. mp3's aren't perfect, and the better quality speakers you get, the more the inconsistencies will be noticed. Quake 3 shouldn't make the noise though....hmm...........

a modem (?)

Aureal Vortex 2 (that's the card, it isn't made by turtle beach) got the latest drivers for it. still happens. don't think it's my speakers anymore.

I think I figured out the problem though. If I plug in my headphones it happens too. I think my SC is just starting to crap out, finally. It's kinda old and it gives me an excuse to buy a santa cruz anyways. 😎

Thanks for help, though
