Slight annoyance with phone, fix needed!

I have a Nexus S (i9020) and it is currently running on gingerbread 2.3.6, which it came with. Since I bought it, google has rolled out its 4.0.2 update and I am now being pestered via a message, to upgrade.

Here's the thing, I have had extensive time on a Nexus S with ICS (the official update of ICS that is) and I found the app draw to be laggy and I did not like the browser very much. The browser I like to use is Dolphin which uses the standard browser, so it's affected.

So, the upshot is, I don't want to upgrade. Is there a simple way to get rid of this annoying message?

It is rooted and I could install a custom ROM but tbh I have the phone setup just the way I like and I have had some app compatibility problems in the past (admittedly the only ROM I tried was bugless beast, before having a problem and going back to stock).

Any help would be much appreciated, thx! 🙂

I can't imagine not upgrading butttt if you really want to stop it, I am sure there is a apk that can be frozen/removed that does the updates. Samsung has one called "System Updates" that I can freeze in titanium backup. I had to do that once /w a leak release for the Epic 4G as it kept wanting to flash back and froward between 2 releases.

I don't have a Nexus, but you might want to look for something similar. If your not rooted, your out of luck because it's a system app.

Ok, I've been looking through the system apps to find "system updates" but it doesn't seem to be here (I'm using Mybackup Pro, which can freeze system apps and yes I am rooted). Here are a list of system apps that it could be (since I don't know what they do):

Google Backup Transport
Google One Time Init
Google Partner Set Up
Google Services Framework
Package Access Helper
Pico TTS
TTS Service
VPN Services

Oh I just realized that TTS means text to speech? So I guess it's not those ones. So any idea if it's one of the others? (thx for your help btw)
