Anyone have a setup they'd recommend to keep the TX heat out? Current apartment has a sliding glass door that gets hit by the sun and you can feel the heat radiating from it.

Unfortunately, tinting isn't an option.

Replace it with a better quality door...but since it's an apartment, that probably isn't an option either.
Sounds like you're gonna be limited to some kind of sun shade. They make lots of different styles that will fit your patio sliders. Not sure whether the apartment management will have an issue with you mounting something like that on the exterior of the building.

You COULD use something like this:

http://www.amazon.com/Coolaroo-Shade...n+shade+fabric

Stretched across temporarily to block the sun.

Temporarily ghetto-ed it with aluminum foil (previous tenant left a whole ton of it).
Will probably just order some sort of shade from Amazon. Any particular recommendations?

You can go to the auto tinting place and bargain for some of the 3M film they put on windshield, block ~ all UV 60% heat and is 70% transparent.

Why is tinting not an option? And if it was what did you think you could do that didn't require modifying the glass?
