Slid into a car a few weeks ago..

I was dropping off the bass player in my band a few weeks back and as I was backing out of the alley I slid on a patch of ice into the back of a 2002 Grand Am. The damage wasn't huge, it just busted up a little bit of their bumper. The police didnt file a report since there wasn't much damage, just an exchange of information. It's been two weeks and I haven't heard anything from them as far as how much it's going to cost. How long do they have to contact me with the info, or can they call me up about a year from now with the estimated cost?

probably 1-2 years

I didn't tell them when it happened, but I planned on paying for it out of pocket. I've never had this happen before and was assuming they were supposed to contact me with the total cost to have their car repaired.
