Slickdeal hoarders try to take advantage of Amazon giftcard deal, backfires.

If you want some entertainment head over to SlickDeals; all the hoarders bought tons upon tons of the Livingsocial Amazon giftcards and got all cancelled except the first purchases, and they are whining like 3 year old kids.

To summarize: Livingsocial is like Groupon, and they offered a $20 Amazon giftcard voucher for $10. SD'ers saw gold, and people were creating over 10 accounts, using different emails, credit cards, proxys, and so on to take an unfair advantage of both Amazon and Livingosocial.

I won't lie, I've taken minor advantage of some deals (maybe buying two copies of a game to sell one), but nothing on this type of scale. I understand people may want to buy one for themselves and one for husband/wife or a friend, but this is just morally wrong with some buying 15-30 vouchers. A new page of posts is being created just about every minute. It's quite funny.

So should I call, and get the charge back for all my orders? I already got 5 out of 19 pending, I ordered 175, what's your best advice, I don't know much about charge-backs, and I don't want to do anything illegal either.

Fuck, this guy made 175 orders!!

I am not interested in the drama but am happy to hear about resellers not getting what they want. Hopefully they lost money.

I just ordered one, but they still haven't processed it. It's in my account, but they haven't charged my cc or sent me a confirmation email. :/

I ordered 1 as well and got my email. Haven't used it yet though.

Unless these people actually had different billing addresses for the different credit cards they're using, did they really think it was that hard for it to be cross-referenced and canceled? I really like the posts laughing at those who wasted so much time trying to scam out more than 1 of the gift cards.

I bought one. They sent me an email last night with instructions on how to get my number. I followed the steps and got my $20 instantly.

Here you go:

To use your Amazon.com Gift Card, follow these easy steps:

Login to your LivingSocial account
Click on the My Deals link at the top right of the page
Click "Get Gift Card Code" under your Amazon.com deal
Click "Apply to my Amazon.com Account" after your gift card code is displayed. This will take you directly to Amazon.com, and you'll be asked to login to your Amazon account.
Voila! Your gift card will be applied and you'll be able to buy something super cool.

I expected that those who were buying more than one gift card wouldn't be able to use them, but I don't see them being "punished" for what they did. I mean, they got a refund on all the cards that they weren't allowed to buy, right?

It would have been more of a "punishment" if LS had sold them gift cards and then Amazon would have only let them use one of them per Amazon account.

Allowing people to buy as many as they wanted and then cancelling afterwards allows LS to say that it sold over a million gift cards when it only sold hundreds of thousands of them. LS got a lot of press for selling all those gift cards.

Good for them.

I got my 2, I'm happy.

I figured they were going to verify against names/billing addresses so I did one for myself using my CC's and the gf did one using her CC.

That's not taking advantage of anything, if the store who had the sale didn't want you buying two, they'd put a limit in place (one per customer, for example, I know sometimes etailers do stuff like this on sale items). But if they have no limits or limit you to 5, 10, something like that, absolutely nothing wrong with buying more than only copy.

Now trying to skirt these limitations by making extra accounts, email addresses, etc. is abusing the system, and I can't really have a lot of sympathy for people if a company running a deal wisens up to this and cancels their orders. Coupons and other things like this are almost always limited to one per person or something like that, this one was probably no different. If they left any limits out of the fine print then these people might have a legitimate gripe, but wouldn't be worth fighting IMO.

whats funny is many purchased 10+ GC. now they are pissed its one PER amazon account. so the other 9 are useless.

but looks as if they are just canceling them. good for them

I just got my confirmation email this morning.

have yet to click on it though. ...I also haven't checked my bank account, yet.

Sounds like you got 1 and your gf got 1. Do you own her?

ordered 1 for myself and 3 for family members. 3 got cancelled, cool, no problem.

glad they're canceling orders, way too many people trying to scam them out of millions.

I dont think that's true. I was able to apply both my GC and my wife's GC to my amazon acct

i ordered one for myself, and i got it. crazy how that works.

it's the year of the wounded slick deals children, apparently.

Fools I saw that unfold as it was happening.

I only purchased one, and for the reason that I figured they'd do something like this.

Sweet! Wounded Amazon Children Online.

Call them WACO's for short.

How did the site sniff them out? By IP placing the order? I'm too lazy to click the link.

What would have made them super-awesome is "Limit 1 per person. Orders of more than 1 will result in ALL of the orders for that person being canceled."

Scammers are so ridiculous.

They try and turn it around like livingsocial did this to collect all their personal information and spam them. Pretty ridiculous.

EDIT: I bought 3 for myself, but I did it in a much more covert way than these scammers. I guess I was greedy but not greedy enough to be caught.
