Slick way to Check your Internet Connection.

I've never seen such a large disparity in speed test results on my Cox line:

Vonage says 500 Kbps/1.7 Mbps
Broadbandreports.com says 500 Kbps/6.0 Mbps

Those tests CAN be accurate, but only if your local internet connection is the bottleneck.

What I would do is try several speed rating sites. A low-ball number or two could just indicate a problem somewhere on the internet.

Don't always trust your ISP's speed test either. In the past they have fudged their test results, giving you a better number than you connection really earned.

Best bet is to download from big money websites, like microsoft or adobe to check your download bandwidth. For upload, take turns sending files to and from your buddies to check each other's upload speeds.
