Is SLI really worth it? I have two 6600gt's PCI-E and they run about the same as one 6800gt. The cost is about the same. Whic would you rather have?

I would rather have a single 6800GT personally. I don't know that I see the point in putting midrange cards in SLI when they won't even always perform as good as the single card that you can get for that cost anyway. It really only makes sense as a super-high-end solution to me.

Edit: Oh, and it's PCI-E, not PCIX ;)

A single 6800GT will perform better than 2x 6600GT at higher resolutions, it pulls even further ahead when you enable AA/AF.

Personaly, i'd get a X800XL over both choices.

qfft it's wprthless to sli any card lower than a 6800ft. you could get comparable performance for less to same cost and with less noise, energy draw, heat output, and an additional slot left open for when you want to upgrade on the cheap in 1 year.
