well I just spotted the following today while browsing through Ebay and thought to my self hmmm I wonder if SLI is worth it on a Skt 754 platform.

EPOX 8NPA-SLI

I currently have a AMD64 3000+ (E6 Venice) that I have just been able to get running at 2.87ghz@ 1.55v(watercooled) on my trusty GA-K8NS PRO.

but lately I have found that my old Asus 6800GT just hasn't been cutting it I was thinking that maybe a pair of 7600GT's might do the trick.

What say the fine people of AT?

Well, I don't think SLI is worth it, period, but that's just my opinion and wallet talking :)

If you get that mobo and decide to go pci-e, I would just get a single card instead. A 7900gt should keep up with 7600gt SLIed most of the time for less money too.

I haven't seen too many benchmarks of the 7600GT SLI, how do they perform in comparison to the 7800/7900GT?

How many Watt PSU would I need, I currently have an Antec 380W Truepower.

Here's a good article comparing SLIed 7600gt's and the 7900gt.

A 7900gt uses less power than the 7600gt's paired up. You can check out the benches too on the later pages, which shows the 7900gt and 7600gt SLI benchmarks.

I'm not exactly sure if that 380w truepower will hold up, but there's only one way to find out :) Test it yourself ;)

I would get the S754 Epox and give it a go, but i would first get 1 7900GT and see how far the board will clock to begin with, and if you can get close to your current clock you would try for another 7900GT shortly thereafter. Seems to me that 7600GT's or better yet 7900GT's SLI'ed would be perfect for that board. You could also go a different rout and get a Biostar T-Force S754 and an X1900xt OEM at newegg.

Is this a good deal for this board? at AU$79(roughly US$50) it's less than half price at most shops.
