sli using different manufacutrers cards/

hey, i read somewhere that you can mix and match different manufacturers video cards. like i have an xfx 6800gt and i want to get another so i can run it in sli do i still have to get an xfx or what?? i read a post that wasnt the case anymore just need to clarify this issue. thanks

That is currently not the case with the current WHQL drivers. When the 80.xx drivers are available, that will be true. You can already find the 80.xx drivers on the web. They are leaked, are not WHQL, and some people have problems with them.

ok thanks im using the 81.33 drivers for x64 i dont seem to be having any problems, which is very surprising lol anyway do you know if anyone has tried it out yet? any problems with having two different manufacturers video cards running in sli? i wouldnt think there would be a problem because they are the same core after all
