My pc shuts down after gaming with SLI enabled after ~ 8 - 10 mins.

If i disabled SLI i have no issues at all.

I have monitored temps and nothing is getting extremely hot (GPU's hit around 80 -85c, cpu sits at around 48 - 52c)

I dont know what to do to fix this issue. I have also tried reinstalling drivers, using older drivers etc..

Everything is at stock standard speeds, no O/C.
Anyone got any idea's, its driving me insane! ?

PC Specs:
CPU: Intel i7 2600k
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD7-B3
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws X F3-12800CL7D-8GBXH (2x4GB) DDR3
GFX: Gainward GeForce GTX 580 3GB Phantom x 2 SLI
PSU: Corsair AX1200

Originally was single.

When i got my second card i installed it, connected the sli bridge, then formatted, re-installed windows and then installed drivers.

Your cards probably have different bios versions installed. (I've had this issue with my 9800GTX+ Black Editions and my 580GTX Lightning Xtremes).

Get NVFlash, copy the bios from one card and save it to the other.

That should fix any issues.

I tried to do this but after i restart and put the SLI bridge on, the option to enable SLI si greyed out and it is still asking me to connect the 2 cards with a connector. If i install the drivers with the connector already on this does not happen.

What would be the best way to test each card seperatley?

The pc only shuts down with SLI enabled could it possibly be a motherboard problem ?

I also checked the firmware on each card and they are both the same

*update*

I noticed that when both cards were in the system the voltages on each card were different. One of the cards was at 1.013 and the other was at 0.96~. I removed both cards and tested them one by one in the system and i noted that the voltages for both cards when installed separately was reading at 1.050. Could there be a PSU issue not supplying enough juice to the cards when SLI is enabled, causing the PC to shutdown (power failure) or could it also be the Motherboard ? i cant try any other pcie slots as the cards are physically too big and dont fit.

Also note that i have 1 card in the PCIE 16x slot and 1 in a PCIE 8x slot

I had this exact issue with my MSI N580GTX Lightning Xtreme cards. Both arrived on the same day in the same box but were not in serial number order. Both showed the same BIOS and were both toggled to the correct (non-LN2) version. One was doing .96 and the other was 1.13.

This is why I suggested flashing the BIOS to match. Use the .96 one, it's probably correct.

Also, try a different bridge and feed them off different lines directly from the PSU.

(I never tried to look at my voltages separately so I can't speak to that).

Also take a look at make sure your 24pin atx, 8pin CPU and 4 pin molex connectors are all plugged in to the mobo.

Tried the above flashed the bios again to make sure they had the same version, still no luck.

I can play a game with sli enabled for about 8 - 10 minutes and then the pc just hard powers down. No blue screen, its as if someone has pulled the plug from the wall

So weird

i have RMA'ed my PSU and corsair have approved it, so ill see if that makes any difference when i get it back
