SLI still Cause Overall Instability?

Hey guys, I have been recently doing a whole bunch of builds, thanks to this website and its members. I have built a great WHS that I am enjoying very much.

My plan is to convert my current gaming system to a HTPC, and then use a new I7 system to game on.

I know it used to be the case that motherboards based on SLI chipsets generally caused instability, weird glitches, and poor overclocking performance. Is this still the case? For instance, EVGA's series of SLI x58 boards?

it had nothing to do with SLI, it was just nvidia's crappy implementation of intel chipsets (and even then, SLI didn't cause many stability problems, just compatibility problems). x58 is solid as a rock, so don't worry about multiple GPUs there.
