SLI questions

Is SLI worth it yet? If thats not specific enough, is 2 8800GTS 320s worth it?
I already have 1 8800GTS.

Can you mix the 320 with a 640 or would I have to have 2 320s?
Could they both run off a 480W PSU or would I need to get a better PSU also?

My current system is:

Opteron 175 @ 2.2Ghz (i think thats stock)
2GB RAM
EVGA 8800GTS 320
2x DVD RW drives
Creative Audigy 2 ZS
Several hard drives totalling over 1 TB
Dell 2005FPW 20" Widescreen LCD
480W PSU

I wouldn't bother SLI'ing the 320s. If you need the extra graphics performance to justify a G80 SLI setup, than you are probably already in situations that need more than 320MB of graphics RAM.

i would not sli the 320mb gts. too much gpu power for too little memory. u can mix the 640mb's and the 320mb's but the 640 card will disable half of its memory, still leaving you with 320mb of video memory and u would be paying more money for nothing in that case. i would hang in there with the gts for a while. i also doubt that your 480w power supply will be able to power those 2 cards, forcing you to get another psu and spending more money in the process. i would wait until the next generation at least. in my case, i plan to keep my gts for at least another 2 years, unless theres a really killer 200cad card out for me to buy.

You be better off trying to sell the 320, and replacing it with a GTX... The PSU question is a tough one, since you didn't mention what kind of PSU you have. However, I would be pretty confident in saying that it would probably be wise to upgrade that a bit. Check out http://www.jonnyguru.net/forum...6951a69526f54ff97f&f=3 for some good recommendations.

It might be a coolermaster PSU. I can't remember right now.
