SLI power supplies

Iam about 3 or 4 months away from building my new rig. I have desided to get and Nforce 4 mother board and go the whole SLI route. My only real question is how much power do i need to run 2 6800GT's or Ultra's. How much will be enough? Also i will need a four pin to six pin adapter for the PCI express graphics cards. Do i have to buy these adapters or will power supplies come with two SLI ready six pin molex power supply cords? Any help would be great. Thanks...

More than less. I wouldn't feel comfortable taking on SLI with anything less than a 500W PSU from a GOOD manufacturer...if it's generic I'd want at least 850 watts lol.

Bottom line: At least 500 Watts from Antec, Vantec, Enermax, OCZ, PC Power & Cooling, someone like them. You do NOT want to skimp on the PSU in an SLI system - it'll throw your whole system into chaos.

Personally, I'd recommend you go with an Antec TruPower, simply because they have seperate 3.3 and 5v rails, so you can be assured that if your video cards get hungry your CPU will still get plenty of amps. OCZ Powerstream would also be nice since you can adjust each rail individually, so you can crank up that 5v to feed those roaring NV40s.

I think in one of the SLI mobo reviews... MSI wanted a 450w minimum and the 12v rail at 18A at least.
