Simple question:

Can the two named cards be in SLI together?

To my understanding the GPUs must be the same, which has me believe they cannot.

2nd misc. question:

Can a eVGA 7800 GT be in SLI with another manufacturer's 7800 GT?

Are you sure about #2? Both different 7800 GT cards I had (one BFG and one eVGA) both stated in the manuals that only idencital cards all the way throughout can be used together. But then again, I dont know if they just say that so you buy a 2nd one from the same place instead of a competitor.

The manual was probably written when the cards originaly came out, which was (probably) before the 80's series driver.

You can combine them now, just get the latest driver version (which, as I write this, is the 84.25's).

I also recommend you try the XG 84.25's. They seem to offer better performance and better IQ compared to stock nvidia drivers.
