That's kinda true to a point, but you have to realize that the PhII is roughly equal core/ipc to a C2Q. C2Q came out in 2006, and you have three cores instead of 4. So that's not exactly close to the last 4 processor gens from Intel, or the latest FX Visheras.

You don't have to go bananas with the CPU by any stretch, but if you want good performance, FX 6300 should be your baseline, and then 2500k, 3570k, and 4670k are even better still.

Good perspective. The I try and save $30 and later when my job pays more I regret it, but we always chase the dragon huh?

So I know there's more to it, but the fx6300 shows 3.5GHZ (4.1 turbo, whatever that means) and the 4430 shows 3.0 GHZ, but the 4430 is faster?

The 7950 going to keep me happy for a while?

Haswell core i5 4430 is almost 50% faster than a Piledriver FX-6300 on a clock for clock basis in terms of IPC or single thread performance. in fact even in multithread performance 4430 will beat a FX-6300. so there is no comparison here. 4430 is the better gaming CPU.

definitely very happy

Thanks again for the responses. Couple follow up ???

Are the TW titles single or multithread? And if they are multi does this make the extra $60 for the i5 not worth it? 50% definitely seems worth it initially.

The 8350 @ 4.5 ghz losing to the i5 760 @ 2.8 ghz is the most telling example.
