I've been out computer hardware since the beginning of last year, so I could use some help. I've got a BFG 6800 GT PCI-Express card, with a 500 Watt Aspire power supply. Would it be best for performance and price to buy another identical card and run SLI, or ditch this card and buy a new one altogther. I'm concerned that running SLI might strain my power supply unit. Suggestions? BTW, I've also got a AMD 3500 Winchester, 80 Gig SATA harddrive if that makes things more clear.

the best thing coming from an older gen card is almost always to sell it and buy a newer gen single solution. a 7800gtx/7900gt/x1800xt can trounce two 6800gt's in SLI and you can get those at or around the 200 buck mark. I would recommend selling the 6800 and going with a 7900gt if you like nvidia, or a x1800xt 256mb if you like ATI. If you really wanna splurge ur best bet is a x1900xt but it is still at or above the $300 mark so it depends on your budget.

It's pointless going SLI with something that old. Get something new, like a 7900GT which will slap a 6800GT SLI rig silly.

Sell the 6800 then get another better single card....

Or if you can get a 6800GT for next to nothing.... then that too would be an option.

Either an EVGA 7900GT for about $265 or if you can afford to wait for a rebate, go fo the Sapphire X1900XT at $319 on Newegg with a $30 MIR.

if you do decide to sell your 6800gt PM me and i might buy it if the price is right.

personal agendas aside a 7900gt can be had for 230 and trounces 6800gt sli.
