SLI or CF cards

would it make much difference in cooling and overclocking if I had non ref cards and used something like MSI or gigabit use's.

And one other question I have seen something about using a razor to take apart and the Hazwell and do something that helps them to overclock.

Non reference cards will definitely run cooler and quieter even in SLI/CFX, but you need a case with decent exhaust airflow for that.

What setup do you have?

It's Haswell. And that's called 'delidding'. Using a razor isn't actually the safest or most effective way, but probably the most readily available one. The best method is to use a vice.

It's probably not worth the trouble unless you're shooting for high clocks.
