I bring to you the topic of the hour...

Everybody is talking about Conroe and how it will destroy AMD. I agree the benchmarks are impressive. A 2.4 ghz Conroe simply puts an FX-60 to shame. To get near the performance of this processor, you would have to take a toledo core and clock it in the neightbourhood of 3.5 ghz (to give you a rough idea).

You dont need to believe me, check out this thread for your yearself.

So, after all this, if you are going to build a new system this summer with a Conroe processor, you will have to use a motherboard with the i965 (broadwater) chipset. very well, no problems with that. Considering that the nForce 500 will only be available for AMD M2 processors, and god only knows when of even if nVidia will make an intel edition of the nforce 500, how exactly is someone supposed to set up an SLI system with an i965 chipset?

Is this going to be another chipset that claims to support Crossfire and SLI, like the 975X, or will it actually be certified this time? This is really bothering me because I'm only a few months away from building a new rig, I had all my ideas thought out with an AMD FX-62 processor, Asus M2N32-SLI mobo, and 2 7900 GTX in SLI, but after seeing Conroe benchmarks, Im not sure I want to spend 1200 dollars on a CPU that will be smoked by a 500 dollar Conroe @ 2.67 (and who knows how much higher we can crank this love toy).

Anybody with an Intel 975X chipset running SLI that can take this pain away from me?

why would someone not make a board that a lot of people want/have (SLI)?
that would be silly

It would exist, eventually. Worst case senario you switch to ATI and Crossfire. If new generations of 2nd best processors can debut around $249 MSRP (ie 7900GT) then MAYBE I'll consider putting more than one card in my system. Until then I won't go more than 1 card that will more than suit my needs, paying $600+ for your video is really pushing it, I'd rather stay in the $300-400 range but $500 would be where I draw the line.
