Okay here is my dilemma! I'm trying to get two 6800 Ultra's to boot up in SLI mode. Okay seems like it should be an easy process. Well it isn't I've spent about 17 hours in the past two days trying to get this to work and well I can't. This is what I've done:
Running a DFI Lanparty nF4 SLI-DR mobo, I've changed the jumpers from normal mode to SLI mode, I've flashed the bios to the most current dated one. I've got the 66.93 drivers for my cards from nvida b/c those seem to be the most stable and only reliable ones from nvidia. This is what happens, I boot up no problems can see everything, I make it to the Windows splash screen and it loads, as soon as its done with the loading process it goest to a black screen, but my PC continues to load into windows b/c I can hear it make it to the desktop. I've changed out monitors, as well to make sure my Dell UltraSharp 2005FPW wasn't the culprit and yet again I found that not to be the case. So I really need help b/c I'm at my wits end, and I'm just about to RMA this SON OF A GUN back...... If you have any suggestions PLEASE reply I need some advice! Thanks.

It sounds like it's putting out a resolution or refresh rate that's incompatible with your monitors- I had that happen as well. I'd boot to safe mode and choose 640x480, 60 cycles. Reboot, if it comes up be sure your monitor profile is populated with the right brand and model or manually enter the compatible resolutions and frequencies.

Alright, well put all my settings to 640 x 480 at 75 hz and still came up with a black screen. I'm running a Dell 2005FPW, and I thought since the native is 1680 x 1050 that would deffinetly jack my stuff up. Well I'm still kind of at a loss. Not sure what else is the deal because it did boot up into safe mode, but I realized that I didn't have my bridge on at that time. So I guess I should see if it does boot into safe mode with everything hooked up. If you guys have any other ideas I'm all ears! Thanks!

There are new beta 73.00's drivers from nvidia that are supposed to fix Widescreen LCD issues using SLI. Give that a try.

75 cycles is too high for an LCD. It might adapt but I'd force it to 60 if you're trying to troubleshoot.

Come up in safe mode, uninstall your gfx drivers from the control panel.

Reboot. Install the latest WHQL drivers, 71.89. You'll want this driver also since it has many more SLI profiles compared to 66.93.

This should fix your problem.

Alright, tried booting it with 60hz and still the same, black screen. You think it could be the 66.93 drivers? I mean that's what was recommended to me by the manufacturer of my card and some other people. Think it would be a good idea to unistall those and try the 73.00s? I'm a little lost on this now, nothing seems to be working and I'm getting quite aggrivated!

Again, come up in safe mode, uninstall your drivers from the control.

Reboot.

Install 71.89.

Report back what happens.

Yeah everythings working now! Jesus, it was those 66.93 drivers I guess. Those were bad news! The 71.89s worked like a charm sorta! Minus the random reboot at the very begining everything came up. The only thing I don't like is that they dont' recognize my monitor, they recognize widescreen format but hell its working and I'm finally not going to shoot myself now! Thanks guys! Y'all were are great help!
