Anybody with a single or even dual GTX 680s, can you tell me if you can use 3 displays? Like, have 3 extended desktops? Also, when you're in an actual game, can you game on a single display, then have other stuff on both other displays? Last time I looked in to this, you could only game on 3 displays at the same time, but could not use 1 single display for gaming, and the other 2 active with other things.

I have dual 7970s, but after a CPU upgrade, multiple motherboards, PSUs, etc... My machine completely locks up and reboots after each individual display crashes 1 by 1. AMD basically told me I'm on my own and to just wait until they decide to fix it. SOOOOO! Looking at Nvidia cards so I can actually game again with 3 displays, or just 1 display, depending on what I'm doing.

680 supports 3+1 off a single card, that means you can run triple screen surround + another monitor for thermals/movies/whatever off a single card.

There are many people running triple displays on ATI and nV cards without an issue like that. I'd be hesitant to drop even more cash on an assumption it has to do with your video cards.

Was it a new Windows installation? Win 7? Vista? Which drivers are you using?

i've lost count how many reinstalls. i made a thread about it awhile back in the motherboard section. i was not alone. if you read reviews on the socket 2011 motherboards, there's quite a number of people with the exact same problem. my 7970 cards work fine in my wife's s1155 system but not socket 2011. both with the first gen 3930k, and with a brand new 3960x.

Hmm, I wonder if it's the same sort of problem that Apoppin was having with a 6990 and 2011 motherboard.

I hope the new cards work out for you.
