Because the Ultra is harder to get at the moment.. Yeah, I know it doesn't make much sense but that's the only reason possible.

I also think nVidia has a hand in this. Thats also why the SLI board was released first.
Tempting people who don't really want or need SLI to buy one just to get nforce4.
Why is nVidia pushing people to buy SLI boards? 2x future video card sales.

I'm a great example of this. I really wasn't interested in SLI, but I ordered the A8N-SLI because it was the first nforce4 board available. Now that I have the board in hand, I have an almost irresistable urge to buy the second video card! Why? Hell if I know! Somebody stop me! please!

If they need to push something... make it those Taiwanese kids making the boards! Work them day and night, the people of the world need more stock! :p

i'm not too sad it worked out this way. After all, i have yet to see a PCIe board under $180, including that crappy microATX Xpress 200 mobo from MSI. With that kind of price guaging, i'd rather just go ahead and get the best mobo ever made than pay through the nose for a middle of the road board. After all, wouldn't you be pissed if you paid $200 or more and still didn't get SLI? anyways, maybe nvidia did do this on purpose, but i don't care too much. I'm just happy that there won't be a board better than mine for quite a while, and i still managed to keep prices for my new PC under $1100.

Just stick a waterblock on the motherboard chip like I did. No more fretting about that second GPU because it wont fit ;)

Well I guess that kind of explains it and it makes a lot of sense about selling 2 video cards, one more question I am not getting email notification of an answer to the question/thread any ideas thanks.
